Job Description/Requirements
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Reconciliation Officer with a strong background in financial operations and reconciliation processes. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the reconciliation of complex financial transactions across multiple platforms, banks, and partners. Your expertise will help ensure financial accuracy, mitigate risk, and support strategic decision-making within the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, payment gateways, wallets, loan portfolios, and internal systems.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve reconciliation discrepancies promptly.
- Coordinate with finance, product, operations, and technology teams to resolve complex transaction issues.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal control standards across all reconciliation activities.
- Prepare and deliver reconciliation reports to management, highlighting key trends and anomalies.
- Maintain thorough documentation of reconciliation processes, variances, and corrective actions.
- Lead improvements in reconciliation tools, processes, and automation strategies.
Support external audits and regulatory examinations with necessary documentation and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. A professional certification (e.g., ICAN is a plus)
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in reconciliation, accounting, or financial operations preferably within a fintech, lending institution, or bank.
- Strong knowledge of financial systems, digital payment processes, banking operations, and reconciliations.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).
- Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Zoho Books) and reconciliation tools.
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with API-based transaction platforms or digital wallets.
- Knowledge of SQL or basic data querying for financial analysis.
Previous experience in a startup or high-growth financial environment.
