Job Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Nursing Manager to lead and inspire our nursing team within a private hospital setting. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure the delivery of exceptional nursing care, optimize patient outcomes, and maintain adherence to regulatory standards.

This role requires a proactive leader with an in-depth understanding of contemporary nursing practices, strong managerial skills, and a passion for fostering professional growth among nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the nursing team to deliver exceptional patient care aligned with hospital standards.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to develop, review, and implement nursing policies and protocols.

  • Mentor and coach nursing staff to promote professional development and adherence to best practices.

  • Set and monitor SMART goals for the nursing department, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.

  • Conduct regular performance appraisals, supporting a merit-based reward and promotion system.

  • Ensure full compliance with national health regulations and institutional standards.

  • Oversee the adoption and integration of modern nursing procedures and technologies.

  • Monitor patient outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives as necessary.

  • Manage departmental budgets and allocate resources efficiently.

  • Promote a positive and collaborative working environment through team-building and conflict resolution.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing activities and patient care records.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 – 15 years post-qualification experience in a hospital environment.

  • At least 5 years in a senior nursing leadership role, preferably within a private hospital setting.

  • Currently employed in a private hospital.

  • Valid and current Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) practicing license.

  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Experience with Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) is highly desirable.
