Job Description

Workstyle: Office-based role with visits to construction sites as needed.

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented draftsman to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating technical drawings and plans based on specifications provided by engineers, Architects, Or Designers. The Draftsman will ensure that all drawings meet industry standards and are accurate, clear, and well organized.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting Standards: Ensuring compliance with drafting standards and guidelines is crucial. Draftsmen must be familiar with industry-specific standards (e.g., ANSI, ISO) and company-specific drafting practices to produce accurate and standardized drawings.

Detailing and Annotation: Adding dimensions, annotations, symbols, and other necessary details to drawings to convey design intent clearly. This includes specifying materials, finishes, and tolerances as required.

Collaboration: Working closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals to incorporate design changes and modifications into drawings. Draftsmen often participate in design review meetings to discuss and resolve issues.

Document Control: Managing and organizing drawing files and documents effectively. This involves version control, file naming conventions, and maintaining a structured document management system. Organize and maintain all drawing files, ensuring that they are up-to-date and easily accessible for project teams.

Technical Support: Providing technical support to engineers and architects during the construction or manufacturing phase. This may include answering queries, providing clarifications, and making adjustments to drawings as needed.

Updating and Revising Drawings: Revising drawings based on feedback, markups, or changes in design requirements. Draftsmen need to be adaptable and capable of quickly incorporating modifications into existing drawings.

Quality Assurance: Performing quality checks on own work and peer-reviewed drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards before finalizing and issuing drawings for use.

Specialization: Some draftsmen specialize in specific fields such as architectural drafting, civil drafting, mechanical drafting, electrical drafting, etc., which may require additional knowledge and skills specific to those disciplines.

Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with project teams, including engineers, architects, and construction managers, to ensure that designs align with project requirements and constraints.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a draftsman in construction, with a strong portfolio of completed drawings.
• Diploma or degree in Drafting, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other software.
• Strong design skills and a deep understanding of architectural principles.
• Strong understanding of building codes, zoning laws, and regulations.
