Job Description

Job Title: I.T. Officer

Job Summary

The I.T. Officer will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving the technology infrastructure of the QSR business. The role ensures uninterrupted operation of POS systems, kitchen display systems, payment platforms, networks, and basic enterprise applications across outlets. The IT Officer will provide hands-on technical support to stores and corporate teams while supporting business growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. POS & Retail Systems Support

  • Install, configure, and maintain POS systems, payment terminals (POS/QR/USSD), and peripherals (receipt printers, scanners).
  • Provide first-line and second-line support for POS downtime and transaction issues.
  • Ensure daily system availability to support sales operations.
  • Coordinate with POS vendors and payment service providers for issue resolution.

2. Network & Infrastructure Management

  • Set up and maintain LAN/WAN, routers, switches, and Wi-Fi across outlets.
  • Monitor network performance and ensure stable internet connectivity.
  • Manage basic server, cloud, or shared-drive environments where applicable.
  • Implement data backup and recovery procedures.

3. Systems Administration & Security

  • Manage user accounts, access controls, and permissions for systems and applications.
  • Implement basic cybersecurity practices (antivirus, firewall, password policies).
  • Ensure data protection, especially for customer and transaction data.
  • Support compliance with internal IT policies and data security standards.

4. Hardware & Device Management

  • Maintain computers, tablets, kitchen display systems, CCTV, and other IT hardware.
  • Troubleshoot hardware faults and coordinate repairs or replacements.
  • Maintain IT asset register and lifecycle tracking.

5. Software & Business Application Support

  • Support operational software such as inventory systems, payroll tools, accounting software, and ERP (where applicable).
  • Assist departments with system usage, basic reporting, and troubleshooting.
  • Support rollout of new systems, upgrades, and digital initiatives.

6. User Support & Training

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to store staff and head office users.
  • Train staff on proper use of POS, systems, and IT equipment.
  • Document recurring issues and develop basic user guides.

7. IT Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve IT efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Support technology needs for new outlets, promotions, and peak sales periods.
  • Recommend cost-effective technology solutions aligned with business needs.

Key Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant IT certifications are an added advantage.

Experience

  • 2–4 years’ hands-on IT support experience, preferably in retail, QSR, FMCG, or hospitality environments.
  • Proven experience supporting POS systems and payment platforms.
  • Experience providing on-site and remote IT support across multiple locations is an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • POS systems and retail technology support
