Job Description

Job Summary

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations, with a strong focus on payables, receivables, budgeting, cost control, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), and regulatory compliance. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, effective cash flow management, and compliance with IFRS financial reporting and statutory requirements.

This role provides both strategic and operational finance leadership, supporting business decision-making through financial modelling, capital budgeting, and performance analysis, while maintaining strong internal controls and financial discipline.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Management & Control

  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity position, and working capital to support business operations.
  • Ensure strong financial controls, policies, and procedures across all finance activities.
  • Supervise accounting staff and ensure adherence to accounting standards and internal controls.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control

  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Track budget performance, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights.
  • Drive cost control initiatives and improve financial efficiency across the organization.
  • Support management with financial insights to optimize resource allocation.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Build and maintain complex financial models to forecast revenue, expenses, profitability, and capital needs under multiple scenarios.
  • Provide financial analysis to support strategic planning, pricing decisions, and growth initiatives.
  • Develop management reports, dashboards, and financial performance reviews.

Capital Budgeting & Investment Analysis

  • Evaluate potential investments, capital expenditures, and new business initiatives.
  • Conduct financial viability assessments, ROI analysis, and risk evaluation.
  • Support decision-making on capital allocation and long-term financial sustainability.

Regulatory Compliance & Statutory Reporting

  • Ensure full compliance with IFRS financial reporting requirements and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Manage statutory deductions, taxes, and regulatory filings (PAYE, VAT, WHT, etc.).
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulators, tax authorities, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate audit processes and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Head of Finance and senior management to support financial strategy execution.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Commercial, and Leadership teams to align financial plans with business objectives.
  • Provide finance support for contracts, pricing, and commercial initiatives where required.

  • Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and FP&A.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory and statutory financial requirements, including IFRS reporting.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent (required or in progress).
  • Minimum of 5–8 years’ progressive experience in finance or accounting roles.
  • Proven experience managing payables, receivables, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, cash flow management, and FP&A.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, or technology-driven businesses.
  • Exposure to startup or fast-growth environments.
  • Experience supporting commercial teams with pricing and financial analysis.
  • Strong track record of improving financial processes and controls.
