Job Description
Location: Abuja
Work Type: Full-time, On-site
Salary Range: ₦300,00 – ₦350,00/month
Role Summary
Strengthen governance and accountability by independently reviewing internal controls, financial processes, compliance, and operational risk—supporting a premium school environment with high integrity and strong reporting discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a risk-based internal audit plan (fees, procurement, payroll, inventory, assets, admin controls).
- Review school fee processes: billing accuracy, discounts, waivers, reconciliations, refunds, and revenue leakage risks.
- Audit procurement and vendor management (competitive sourcing, approvals, contract compliance, value-for-money).
- Review payroll controls, staff documentation, overtime/allowances, and statutory remittances.
- Conduct surprise checks (cash, stores, assets) and investigate exceptions professionally.
- Produce clear audit reports with findings, root causes, and corrective actions; track closure of audit issues.
- Support policy development and ensure implementation of internal control standards.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality—especially around financial and staff/student records.
Requirements
- Minimum BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, or related.
- 3+ years’ experience in audit/internal control (school, healthcare, hospitality, or structured SME acceptable).
- Solid knowledge of internal controls, audit testing, documentation, and reporting.
- Strong Excel skills; ability to work with accounting systems (QuickBooks/Sage/Zoho Books or similar).
- High integrity, independence, and ability to communicate findings without hostility.
Advantage (Nice-to-have)
- Professional qualification in progress or completed (ICAN/ACCA/CIA).
- Experience working in a multi-department environment with approvals and segregation of duties.
- Familiarity with Nigerian compliance basics (PAYE, pensions, NHF, NHIS where applicable).
