Job Description

Location: Abuja

Work Type: Full-time, On-site

Salary Range: ₦350,00 – ₦400,00/month (exceptional candidates may be negotiated upward)

Role Summary

Provide confidential, professional counselling and student support services that promote academic success, wellbeing, safe conduct, and positive behavior—aligned with a high-standard British/international school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counselling for students (emotional, behavioral, social, academic concerns).
• Support student safeguarding by identifying risk indicators and escalating appropriately under school policy.
• Implement social-emotional learning (SEL) interventions and preventive wellbeing programs.
• Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to develop student support plans and classroom strategies.
• Conduct basic assessments/screening (as appropriate), maintain records, and track interventions.
• Support transitions: new admissions, class changes, exam stress, and graduation.
• Partner with parents/guardians through structured meetings, guidance, and referrals when needed.
• Liaise with external professionals (clinical psychologists, hospitals, child protection, etc.) when required.
• Deliver workshops for students/parents on wellbeing, bullying prevention, digital safety, and resilience.

Requirements

• Minimum BSc in Psychology, Guidance & Counselling, Education, Social Work, or related field.
• 3+ years counselling experience (school setting strongly preferred).
• Demonstrable knowledge of child/adolescent development, behavior management, and learning support.
• Strong documentation and confidentiality discipline (case notes, referrals, incident logs).
• Excellent communication—able to work with high-expectation parents and professional staff.

Advantages (Nice-to-have)

• Professional membership/certification (e.g., CASSON/ACMPN/TRCN where applicable).
• Experience supporting international curricula (British/IGCSE/IB) and exam pressure.
• Training in safeguarding/child protection, trauma-informed care, ADHD/ASD learning support exposure.
