Job Description

Job Title: Group General Manager – Pharmacy & Wellness Retail Operations

Industry: Retail Pharmacy & Beauty

Job Summary

The General Manager – Pharmacy & Beauty Operations will provide strategic and operational leadership across all business units of the retail pharmacy and beauty establishment. The role requires a qualified Pharmacist with proven multi-store retail experience and strong business acumen across operations, finance, people management, supply chain, and commercial performance.

The General Manager will be accountable for overall business performance, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and sustainable growth within a structured corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities1. Strategic & Business Leadership

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for pharmacy and beauty retail operations across multiple outlets.
  • Translate corporate strategy into executable operational and commercial plans.
  • Drive revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Prepare and present business performance reports to executive management and the Board.

2. Pharmacy Governance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Serve as the senior pharmacist leader, ensuring ethical pharmacy practice across all locations.
  • Ensure full compliance with PCN, NAFDAC, NDLEA, and all applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Oversee controlled drug management, documentation, audits, and inspections.
  • Ensure all pharmacy licenses, permits, and professional requirements are current.

3. Multistore Operations Management

  • Oversee end-to-end operations across all pharmacy and beauty outlets.
  • Standardize SOPs to ensure consistency in service quality, merchandising, and operations.
  • Monitor store-level KPIs including sales, margins, shrinkage, wastage, and customer experience.
  • Lead store expansion, rollout, and stabilization initiatives.

4. Commercial, Finance & Performance Oversight

  • Own the P&L for the pharmacy and beauty business.
  • Work closely with Finance to drive budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and profitability.
  • Optimize pricing, promotions, and product mix to improve margins.
  • Analyze performance data to inform strategic and operational decisions.

5. Supply Chain & Inventory Governance

  • Oversee procurement, inventory planning, and distribution across all outlets.
  • Ensure effective stock availability while minimizing expiries and losses.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and contract negotiations.
  • Drive systems adoption for inventory, POS, and reporting.

6. People, Culture & Corporate Management

  • Lead and manage senior managers, pharmacists, store managers, and support teams.
  • Build a performance-driven, compliant, and customer-focused culture.
  • Oversee recruitment, performance management, training, and succession planning.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, HR standards, and ethical conduct.

7. Customer Experience & Brand Stewardship

  • Champion superior customer experience across pharmacy and beauty categories.
  • Ensure consistent brand execution, service standards, and visual merchandising.
  • Handle high-level customer and stakeholder escalations.

RequirementsEducation & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Pharm.D from a recognized institution.
  • Full registration with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) and valid practicing license.
  • MBA or postgraduate qualification in Business, Management, or related field is a strong advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8–12 years’ professional experience, with:
  • Proven multi-store retail pharmacy management experience
  • Senior leadership exposure in a corporate or structured retail environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams (operations, finance, supply chain, HR).
