Job Title: Head of Operations

Job Summary
The Head of Operations will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the retail pharmacy and beauty business, ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, effective inventory management, and excellent customer experience. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, supporting business growth while maintaining compliance with Nigerian pharmaceutical regulations.
Key Responsibilities1. Store & Daily Operations
- Oversee daily pharmacy and beauty store operations to ensure smooth running.
- Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) across pharmacy and beauty categories.
- Ensure proper merchandising, cleanliness, stock arrangement, and service standards.
- Track daily and weekly operational performance and resolve issues promptly.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Controls
- Support compliance with PCN, NAFDAC, NDLEA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with the Superintendent Pharmacist to ensure proper dispensing and record-keeping.
- Ensure operational processes meet audit and inspection standards.
- Assist in license renewals and regulatory documentation.
3. Inventory & Supply Chain Management
- Monitor stock levels to prevent stock-outs, expiries, pilferage, and losses.
- Coordinate procurement, receiving, and distribution of pharmaceutical and beauty products.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using POS or inventory systems.
- Liaise with suppliers and distributors to ensure timely replenishment.
4. Financial & Cost Management
- Monitor operational expenses and support cost-control initiatives.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and basic financial reporting for operations.
- Track sales performance, margins, and wastage.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and cash handling procedures.
5. People & Team Supervision
- Supervise store managers, pharmacists, beauty advisors, and support staff.
- Coordinate staff scheduling, shift management, and performance tracking.
- Support onboarding and training of new staff on operations and customer service.
- Promote discipline, accountability, and teamwork.
6. Customer Experience & Brand Standards
- Ensure a consistent and professional customer experience across pharmacy and beauty services.
- Handle escalated customer complaints and ensure timely resolution.
- Support implementation of promotions, loyalty programs, and in-store campaigns.
7. Process Improvement & Growth Support
- Identify operational gaps and recommend improvements.
- Support setup and stabilization of new outlets (if applicable).
- Assist in implementing digital tools such as POS, inventory, and reporting systems.
RequirementsEducation & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Pharmacy, or a related field.
- Pharmacy or healthcare background is an advantage but not mandatory.
Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience in retail operations, preferably within pharmacy, healthcare, FMCG, or beauty retail.
- Experience supervising store operations or teams in a structured retail environment.
- Basic exposure to regulatory compliance and inventory management in Nigeria.
