Job Description
Elderly Residential Gateman – Role Summary
A reliable and observant Elderly Residential Gateman responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and smooth daily operations of a residential property. This role values the maturity, life experience, and strong sense of responsibility that an elderly individual brings. The gateman provides a calm, watchful, and trustworthy presence while managing access to the premises and assisting residents and visitors with courtesy and respect.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control entry and exit of residents, visitors, and vehicles
- Keep a detailed record of visitors, deliveries, and service personnel
- Politely verify identities and confirm appointments when necessary
- Open and close gates as required and ensure they are secured at all times
- Patrol the premises periodically to ensure safety and report any unusual activity
- Receive packages or deliveries on behalf of residents when instructed
- Provide basic directions or assistance to visitors and residents
- Maintain cleanliness and order around the gate area and security post
- Report maintenance or security concerns promptly to the property manager or homeowner
Skills & Qualities
- Strong sense of responsibility and alertness
- Honest, dependable, and punctual
- Polite and respectful communication skills
- Calm, patient, and mature approach to handling situations
- Physically capable of managing gate duties such as standing and walking for periods of time
- Basic record-keeping ability (visitor log, delivery notes)
- Prior experience as a gateman, security guard, or similar role is an advantage
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and peaceful residential environment
